Its beginning of Restructuring of the Railway
With this restructuring, Indian Railways will now have only a five member railway board; who will act as “Chief Executive Officer (CEO)” along with four members responsible for Infrastructure, Operations & Business Development, Rolling Stock and Finance respectively.
Unification of the existing eight Group A services of the Railways into a Central Service called Indian Railway Management Service (IRMS).IRTS, IRPS, IRAS, IRSE, IRSEE, IRSME, IRSSE & IRSS will be merged and will be called as IRMS.
End of Departmentalism
Restructuring of Railway will end departmentalism, promote smooth working of railways, expedite decision making, create a coherent vision for organisation and promote rational decision making.

It’s the beginning of New Era… An IRSSE officer is managing Infrastructure, IRSS officer powering the Traction & Rolling stock.
Let’s Hope Railway is on right TRACK.

it is a wonderful steps taken by the Government.Earlier Railways have almost 18 vertical heads.Every department was working as an individual entity. I have witness that DRM’s were helpless before Sr DOM or Sr DCM.There is scant regards for the DRM post.,though DRMS are head of division. It may be tip of the ice berg. There is no redressal system.IRTS will not listen to IRSE .IRAS will not listen to IRSS and so on.Very funny.Simply bring the privatization and you will find the Railway s fate like BSNL.
